Monoethylene Glycol Industry Use

Natural Gas Industry

Monoethylene Glycol is widely used to inhibit the formation of natural gas in long multiphase pipelines that convey natural gas from remote gas fields to an onshore processing facility. Natural gas is dehydrated by ethylene glycol.

In this application, ethylene glycol flows down from the top of a tower and meets a rising mixture of water vapour and hydrocarbon gases. Dry gas exits from the top of the tower. The glycol and water are separated, and the glycol recycled. Instead of removing water, ethylene glycol can also be used to depress the temperature at which hydrates are formed.

Automotive Industry The main use of Monoethylene Glycol antifreeze coolant is for car antifreeze. It is used in cells cooling cars, aeroplanes, busses and all automotives. Monoethylene glycol supplied by Eastern Chemicals has a low freezing point when mixed with water, The ethyelene glycol lowers the freezing point of the water proportionally on mixture. Monoethylene Glycol Antifreeze colour can be blue, pink or colourless depending on additives.

irconditioning/Chiller Systems Monoethylene glycol is also commonly used in chilled water air conditioning systems or other systems that must cool below the freezing temperature of water. Eastern Chemicals regularly supply Monoethylene Glycol to several companies who use the Glycol in geothermal heating/cooling systems. Monoethylene glycol is the fluid that transports heat through the use of a geothermal heat pump. The ethylene glycol either gains energy from a source such as a water supply or dissipates heat to the source, depending if the system is being used for heating or cooling. Due to its low freezing point, ethylene glycol resists freezing. For information on mixtures/dosage rates then please call 01473 356444.
